I am a fiddler with over 21 years of experience.  I was born in North Carolina and am currently based in Glasgow, Scotland.  To me, music has always been a way to change lives, understand the universe and my place in it, and act as a pathway for growth.  Every day, I am both honored and humbled to be a violinist and a tradition-bearer.

My musical journey began at five years old with Suzuki, as most do.  Soon after, I switched to traditional music through a mix of a Kevin Burke DVD, thesession.org, and Youtube.  Quickly, I fell in love with trad music and never looked back.  I began attending the Jink and Diddle School of Scottish Fiddle, studying under Dr. John Turner, which gave me a very solid understanding of the music and the importance of the tradition.  The Scottish fiddle competition circuit became a yearly routine, and I won many regionals during the 2010s, which culminated in winning the 2017 Junior National Championships and the 2019 Dan R. MacDonald Invitational Competition.

In the late 2010’s, I hit a point where I was not satisfied with the music in my repertoire.  I had so many ideas and needed to share them.  Composition became my outlet for truly expressing my interests, and from there my music has become a unique combination of progressive traditional music, metal, eighteenth century dance music, and ambient neopagan music.  These niche influences form the pillars of my musical taste, which ensures that my musical voice is entirely unique, personal, and honest.

There is always more to learn, so I travelled with these influences to Scotland in 2020, where I began my undergrad in Traditional Fiddle Performance at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.  These were the most important years of my life so far, as I honed and polished my musical craft, and it is where I met my wonderful wife, Alexandra.  During this time at the Conservatoire, I studied under Alistair McCulloch and Greg Lawson and experimented with a large variety of genres and styles, which helped to unlock my current skillset and open the endless possibilities that the violin can offer.

I graduated from undergrad in 2024 and moved into postgraduate research at the University of St. Andrews and The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.  I am currently a PhD Student working on a project about how the public perceives music they hear on screen in film and game.​

When I’m not playing music, I can usually be found reading fantasy books, relaxing at a death metal concert, at the gym, or being socially awkward somewhere.
